From the Director...

Happy New Year to all from the GRITS Collaborative Project!  I do know that we are already one month into 2010!  However, I have a good excuse!  We have an exciting spring to look forward to with many events for girls and women in STEM.  A special newsletter will be sent out with this information in the next few weeks. If you want to highlight an event in the GRITS Newsletter, please send me a short paragraph with the pertinent information.  We are glad to share!

Congratulations to all for helping us with our 2009 New Year's resolution.  We have 48 programs or organizations registered for Tennessee.  I want to welcome Tracey Wilkes who is leading new initiatives for daughters and mothers in STEM from Perry and Hickman counties. Our 2010 New Year's resolution for the GRITS Collaborative Project is the same as last year.  We want to have at least one program/organization for each county in Tennessee! Encourage your colleagues, friends, networks and schools to register in the NCGP program directory!  We will be glad to help with any questions.

Finally we want to recognize and thank Cacy (DeSheles) Victory for all of her outstanding work for GRITS and the GRITS Collaborative Project. She managed our office, newsletter, mini-grants and many of the outreach activities. My NSF funding for GRITS ended this past December so we had to say goodbye to Cacy. She will graduate this coming May from MTSU with a B. S. in Biology.  Congratulations and thank you for all that you do for Girls Raised In Tennessee Science.
